Sicily, Italy | September 9–16th

One week in Noto for up to 8 people | $3,500 total (under $450 each)

THE TRIP

Seven nights in Noto, Sicily. September 9 - 16th, 2026. A historic apartment in the heart of one of the most beautiful Baroque towns in the world, sleeping eight guests across four private bedrooms with five bathrooms. Two rooftop terraces. Views over a UNESCO-listed golden skyline. The whole of eastern Sicily at your door.

"We planned it. You just pack. Celiac-safe restaurants, translated dining cards, and a digital guide to the Italian table — all included."

THE DESTINATION

Noto sits in the Val di Noto in the sun-drenched southeast corner of Sicily — a region of golden Baroque architecture, volcanic landscapes, ancient Greek ruins, and some of Italy's most celebrated food and wine. The town was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its extraordinary concentration of late Baroque buildings, rebuilt after a devastating 1693 earthquake left the region in ruins and its people determined to build something worth seeing.

The apartment is a five-minute walk from Noto's historic center. The Vendicari Nature Reserve — one of Sicily's most beautiful coastal wetlands — is eleven kilometers away. The beaches of Lido di Noto, nine kilometers. Syracuse and Ortigia, the ancient island city at the heart of Magna Graecia, are forty minutes by car.

THE APARTMENT

Tucked into the upper reaches of Noto Alta, the historic hilltop quarter of one of Sicily's most celebrated Baroque towns, this recently restored two-story apartment has been brought back to life with genuine care and an artist's eye.

An antique gate opens onto a shared atrium - from there the apartment is entirely your own. Inside, the interiors are anything but ordinary. Hand-decorated ceilings, sculptural wall reliefs by Sicilian artist Antonio Caselli, a meridian table that doubles as a work of art, and an eclectic mix of designer furnishings give the living spaces a cultivated, lived-in character that feels more like staying in a beautifully considered home than a rental property.

The ground floor flows from a generous living and dining area — anchored by Caselli's relief work and a play of mirrors that expands the room — into a bright, cheerfully colored kitchen with its own dining table. Two double bedrooms on this level each have private ensuite bathrooms with shower and small balconies overlooking the courtyard. A guest bathroom serves the common areas.

Upstairs are two more double bedrooms each with private ensuite bathrooms. One opens onto a small terrace with a pair of armchairs and views over Noto's golden rooftops — a perfect spot for an early morning coffee or an evening aperitivo. The other, the most dramatic room in the apartment, opens onto a larger furnished terrace and contains an internal mezzanine level, giving it the feel of a private suite within the suite.

Four bedrooms. Five bathrooms. Two terraces. Eight guests, traveling in genuine privacy.

The apartment is fully air conditioned, equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, smart TV, espresso machine, and everything you need to settle in and stay a while. Small pets are welcome.

Noto's historic center is a five-minute walk down cobbled streets and stone steps. The Vendicari Nature Reserve is eleven kilometers away. The beaches of Lido di Noto, nine kilometers. Syracuse and Ortigia, forty minutes by car.

The property is listed and managed by Emma Villas, Italy's leading luxury villa rental company. Each villa has been carefully selected and inspected by their in-house team to ensure it meets their standards for comfort, authenticity, and location. They're recognized as the Italian leader in the vacation villa rental market, with multilingual staff and customer support available seven days a week before and during your stay. The property carries a 9.9 out of 10 rating from guest reviews.

Day1

Arrive & settle into Noto

Ease in. Wander Corso Vittorio Emanuele as the stone turns gold, climb the Cathedral steps for sunset, and have your first dinner close to home.

Caffè Sicilia on the Corso does celiac-friendly granita and sorbet — naturally gluten-free and a perfect first taste of Sicily.

Day2

Sea & sand

A slow beach day at San Lorenzo or Lido di Noto — clear shallow water, sunbeds, and a long lunch. Go on a weekday for room to breathe.

Beach-club kitchens can vary on cross-contact; we'll point you to the ones that handle gluten-free orders carefully.

Day3

Wine country

Drive into the Nero d'Avola hills. Terre di Noto is a tiny, organic, solar-powered family estate with generous tastings; Planeta Buonivini offers a more polished tour with olive oil and aperitivo.

Wine is naturally gluten-free; we'll confirm the food pairings in advance so nothing comes as a surprise.

Day4

Nature at Vendicari

Boardwalks, flamingos, a Swabian watchtower, and hidden beaches. Pack a swimsuit and water — the wild coves are the reward at the end of the trail.

No reliable food inside the reserve — bring safe snacks. We can prep a celiac-safe picnic list before you go.

Day5

Ancient Syracuse & Ortigia

Greek theatre and the Ear of Dionysius in the morning, then lose the afternoon in Ortigia's lanes — Temple of Apollo, the Duomo, the Arethusa spring, and the market (closed Sundays).

Ortigia has a growing number of gluten-free-aware spots; we'll send a vetted shortlist for lunch.

Day6

Marzamemi & the southern tip

Spend the day in the old fishing village — a swim, a seafood lunch on the piazza, a little ceramic shopping, and a sunset aperitivo by the tonnara.

Several Marzamemi kitchens offer gluten-free pasta and grilled fish; reserving ahead with your needs noted works best.

Day7

Your Noto, your way

Choose your ending: a canyon hike at Cavagrande, a half-day to Modica for cold-processed chocolate (naturally gluten-free), Ragusa Ibla's Baroque streets, or simply a last lazy beach day before a farewell dinner.

Modica's Antica Dolceria Bonajuto makes chocolate the old way — no flour, all flavor. A safe, delicious souvenir.

Prefer to lean into one passion? We can shape the whole week around a single thread.

The Adventurer

Canyon hikes, sea kayaking, an Etna day, coastal trails.

The Food & Wine Lover

Winery tastings, a cooking class, Marzamemi seafood, a Michelin finale.

The Beach Lover

A different cove each day, beach clubs, boat trips, sunset swims.

The History Buff

Greek Syracuse, Roman mosaics, Baroque towns, ancient ruins.

The Slow Traveler

Late mornings, one thing a day, long lunches, golden-hour aperitivi.

A NOTE ON CELIAC SAFETY

The restaurant list, the dining cards, and the travel planning that come with this trip are built on the same research and standards that inform everything Parea produces. We don't recommend restaurants we haven't vetted. We don't include experiences we can't stand behind. The dining cards are written in Italian and designed to communicate your needs clearly and completely, in the language of the kitchen.

You will still need to advocate for yourself at every meal — that's the reality of celiac travel anywhere in the world. But you'll do it with the right tools, in the right language, with a list of restaurants that have already been evaluated for you.

That's what travel with confidence actually looks like.
